Falk PLI helped our client, a Northwest Indiana Steelmaker, improve their quality performance from 50% to 95% on their Tandem Mill through improved maintenance practices. The client previously required service every 6 weeks for 16 hours. Falk-PLI now performs the task every 6 months for 4 hours. This work has been submitted for the AIST Reliability Achievement Award.
Falk PLI’s client, a major East Coast Steel maker, was experiencing low throughput and breakout issues on their slab caster, creating a bottleneck in their operation. We worked with them to develop shimming software to improve their practices for maintaining their design back-of-strand radius. These improved maintenance practices increased cast speed, increased throughput, and lowered the number of breakouts. This work has been submitted for the AIST Reliability Achievement Award.
Falk PLI helped improve reliability of operations at a major steel producer 5 stand tandem mill through improving shimming practices for roll-stack heights and wrap angles for interstand rolls and exit end rolls, improving throughput by 30%.
